Q: What is the salary for this position?
A: Typically a company will look at what you are currently making and develop an offer that they feel is competitive. There is no one salary for any given position. We can sometimes give you a range that we think they are considering but your current salary is the biggest determining factor along with experience, credentials and achievements.

Q: When should I address the subject of salary?
A: Once the company has decided they are interested in hiring you they will address the subject of salary. Wait until the prospective employer is sold on “you.” If you choose to negotiate, be reasonable and remember, negotiating is a reciprocal process.
Q: Am I ready to move up to the next position?
A: A move to the next level in your career can often be a challenge. For example, many people are interested in moving into a school director position but most companies will only hire experienced school directors. The best way to prepare yourself for a move to the next level is by looking for opportunities within your current position to take on new responsibilities. For example, if you are currently a DOE or Dean but would like to move up to a school director, look for chances in your current position to take on new tasks and expand your responsibilities. When looking to advance also be sure that the company you select is dynamic and growth oriented. You may start at the DOE level but if they have plans for expansion you may be in an ideal position to advance.
Q: Will a company provide relocation assistance?
A: Many companies provide relocation assistance at the management level but it does depend on the individual situation.
Q: What if I choose to not relocate?
A: If you are not available to relocate this will limit your ability to find the ideal position. When possible we recommend that you leave yourself open to the thought of relocation.
